SEASON 1: COMPLETION (DEATH) WINTER
Overview: Descend into the dark, surrender to stillness, honor the silence.
It may seem odd to have completion as the first stage, but everythingâincluding lifeâis a circular process. There is no real order to the stages; they all fold into one another.
Life Truth: The ending of one thing is always the beginning of something new.
The completion season often occurs during or right after a major, life-altering event, such as a breakup, divorce, being fired from a job, or receiving a disease diagnosis. Much like when a caterpillar is turning into a butterfly, it has no idea it will be reborn as a magnificent creature that flies; it simply cocoons itself into a cozy, warm place and surrenders to the death of the self it has known. The butterfly is the completion process of the caterpillar, representing a new layer of self, but there is always a space in between the old and newâthe time in the cocoon, where it isolates and surrenders to the unknown. In relation to our own lives, this phase is a prime time to go inward and hibernate. Whatâs really happening in this phase is a completion process. We have outgrown what we once knew and are being asked to go within ourselves so we can have enough strength and awareness to open up more authentically on the other side. Of all the phases, this is the most uncertain and dark, which can bring up our deepest fears. Unrest, regrouping, restructuring, and the falling away of the old all occur in this phase.
It helps to remind ourselves that we have arrived at a place in our lives where we have learned everything we needed on this level and have grown to our full capacity. This phase wonât last forever, so focus on the light available within the darkness. New awareness and understanding are in our future, but we must surrender to the release and death of old pieces of us. This can include all aspects of our life that no longer work or serve us. This can be a trying time in life because this is a phase of conclusions, which means all things that must be resolved will be revealed. Essentially, this means that anything you havenât looked at or anything holding you back will come to the surface to be healed and transformed. But thereâs no need to worry, because really it is a completion of an aspect of yourself that is no longer neededâfor where you are going, the old habits, thoughts, and beliefs cannot exist. Next-level you may not need the frustration in the mind over controlling your body weight, the pressure of a demanding job, the home in a location you donât feel connected to, the unfulfilling relationship, etc. Whatever it is you are being asked to let go of, honor the release. This can include habits, people, situations, attachments, addictions, and even perspectives.
